Mignots latest research will analyze blood samples from about 10,000 individuals suffering from this rare type of sleep disorders, searching for common genes responsible for narcolepsy. People affected by this condition have periods in the day when they simply cannot stay awake. They may fall quickly and deeply asleep, all of a sudden, regardless of whether they are at school, at work or in some other environment. The study is expected to take five years, and the Australasian Sleep Trials Network will also be taking part in the research.
